Do you have an upcoming event that has been postponed or canceled due to the threat of COVID-19? Eric Newkirk, Vice President of Design and Creative at CEAVCO Audio Visual, shares tips about virtual webcasting and streaming solutions that can keep your event on track and engage your attendees from afar.
What did the world of audiovisual production look like 10 years ago vs. today? CEAVCO Audio Visual’s Eric Newkirk, Vice President of Design & Creative, and Nick Williams, Project Manager/Audio Engineer, share their thoughts in this captivating Decade in Review video. They cover dramatic changes in video recording technology, video production, media storage, and the use of mobile devices and social media at events. They also share some big news about 2020 developments here at CEAVCO! Goodbye to the decade that was, and welcome in the roaring ‘20s!
Congratulations to CEAVCO Audio Visual President Matt Emerson, who is celebrating 30 years with the company!
Matt was hired as the VP of Finance by his father, Jack Emerson, on May 22, 1989. Matt was the 15th employee of the company, which Jack founded in 1961. When Matt started in 1989, the company primarily sold audio visual equipment and had a two-person rental department. In 2003, Matt became the company’s executive vice president, and in 2013 he was named president.
“We no longer sell equipment, and equipment rentals are a much smaller piece of our business,” says Matt. “CEAVCO is an example of how companies can thrive by adapting to changes in the industry. I’m really proud of our reputation and our relationships with our clients. Though it may sound clichéd, we do everything we can to help our clients meet their objectives. That’s our niche and our passion.”
Meeting planners and our corporate and association clients take their meetings and events very seriously. CEAVCO, in turn, takes very seriously the hiring and retention of dedicated employees who are committed to making planners’ lives easier and helping them achieve their vision. And while the CEAVCO of today barely resembles the CEAVCO of 30 years ago, one thing has remained the same: the team’s dedication to sharing industry knowledge and providing exceptional support to our valued clients.
Says Matt, “Jack grew the company he loved for 52 years, and for the past 30 years I’ve had a challenging and rewarding career that I love. I’m deeply appreciative of the opportunity my father gave me. We have a great workplace, a great team, and great clients and partners — I honestly couldn’t ask for more. I’m amazed by the evolution of the company over last 30 years, and I can’t wait to see what the future will bring!”
What did our crew do over the Thanksgiving holiday? They supported the Colorado Symphony’s Movie at the Symphony: Home Alone in Concert. Here’s a photo of our truck in downtown Denver en route to the concert. Big thanks to Paul Trotch, Joshua Fortenberry, and Troy Johnson for the great work – the event was amazing!
For the past 26 years, CEAVCO Audio Visual has been a proud sponsor of the annual Denver Film Festival. This year, the Denver Film Society honored CEAVCO founder Jack Emerson, who passed away on July 12.
Denver Film Society Executive Director Andrew Rodgers and CEAVCO President Matt Emerson each gave a tribute to Jack prior to the showing of the festival’s closing-night film. It was a touching moment and a reminder of the Denver Film Society’s admiration for Jack and respect for his partnership, commitment and support over the years.
Welcome to CEAVCO Audio Visual, a family-owned company where employees are treated as family. What’s it like to work here? Words like challenge, reward, teamwork, and camaraderie come to mind. We’re proud to produce great shows all over the world. At CEAVCO, every day is a new adventure. Best of all – we’re hiring!
Thinking about joining our team? In the video below, we’ll show you around.
Jack was a man of integrity and exacting standards who believed in service, accountability, and a job well done. He was also one of the warmest, most genuine, and most compassionate people you would ever meet.
Jack built CEAVCO in 1961 with the goals of creating a great workplace and providing exceptional customer support. He developed a lifelong reputation for honoring his vision and doing the right thing. He was immensely proud of CEAVCO, our team, our clients and partners, and the work we do.
Jack lived life with great passion and joy. This time last year, at age 89, Jack rode his bike 50+ miles a week and skied 30 days. Last year he also took his family to Sweden to visit the land where his great-grandparents farmed before emigrating to the United States.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Jack’s wife, Ann Daley; to Jack’s children, Sara, Lisa, Nina, John, and CEAVCO President Matt Emerson; and to their entire family. We will miss him.
A service to celebrate Jack’s life will be held on Saturday, August 25, at 4pm at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science.
This year, CEAVCO Audio Visual is once again a sponsor of Film on the Rocks at Colorado’s historic Red Rocks Amphitheater. The Denver Film Society is a valued partner of CEAVCO’s, and Red Rocks is one of the ultimate Colorado experiences.
Every summer, CEAVCO invites a few guests to join our team for a VIP experience at Red Rocks. On July 9, CEAVCO’s Pete Goetz and Brian Miller and their guests had a rare backstage tour complete with dinner backstage and VIP seating to watch The Big Lebowski. They even got to check out the hidden concrete tunnel beneath the stage, where thousands of famous performers have added their signatures to the narrow concrete walls.
“The Big Lebowski was amazing!” says Pete. “People dressed up in costumes and recited lines from the film. It was an experience to remember. If any meeting planners or producers are interested in joining us at an event, please reach out.”
Located in the foothills of Colorado’s Rocky Mountains, Red Rocks Amphitheater is one of the world’s most beautiful venues and is known for its acoustically perfect sound. The 19th annual Film on the Rocks series includes events throughout the summer featuring films, a live concert, and a set by a comedian courtesy of Comedy Works.
CEAVCO Audio Visual is a founding member of the Rental & Staging Network (RSN), a professional organization whose members are top-tier video, audio, staging, and live event production companies from across the U.S. and Canada. CEAVCO’s strong relationships with likeminded companies enable us to provide responsive support to our clients throughout North America.
RSN member companies often share best practices and support each other’s event production needs. For example, CEAVCO was recently scheduled to produce a show in Minneapolis. One of our technicians had arrived with our gear, but two other team members’ flights were canceled because of a major storm in the Midwest. With little notice, our RSN partner in Minnesota agreed to help staff the show. (Ultimately, we didn’t need them to step in, but we appreciate their willingness to mobilize their team.)
Timely support from our RSN team members didn’t end there. CEAVCO recently pursued a corporate webcasting opportunity at locations nationwide. Over a weekend, our team turned to an RSN partner located in Connecticut. Our partner graciously shared valuable insights with our team.
Through membership in RSN, CEAVCO leverages the strengths of these and other highly respected partners, collaborating with the best AV resources around the country and providing exceptional production support wherever our clients’ events are happening.
