Position Overview

Reporting to the IT Manager, the IT Technician provides desktop and networking support for office staff and show technicians. The ideal candidate is organized and adaptable, with the ability to reprioritize workflow as new issues arise while ensuring all tasks are completed. They are consistent and reliable, approach new challenges with enthusiasm, and remain calm under pressure.

Key Responsibilities

Networking

  • Assist the IT Manager with troubleshooting and perform routine maintenance on the AVFX network
  • Assist IT Manager with troubleshooting systems failures and identify blocks in the networks
  • Fix issues with LAN infrastructure
  • Test and configure new software
  • Assist IT Manager with evaluating network performance for improvements
  • Create and maintain up-to-date and accurate documentation of network configurations

Office Support & Show Prep

  • Set up workstations with computers and necessary peripheral devices
  • Set up computers and necessary peripheral devices for off-site events.
  • Maintain rental computer inventory by inspecting gear when returned from offsite events, clearing show media and programs, and restoring original settings.
  • Configure new employee accounts (e.g. Outlook, Intranet) and workstations.
  • Check computer hardware (e.g. HDD, mouses, keyboards) to ensure functionality
  • Clear iPads, and iPods of show media and programs; prep with new media as needed
  • Install and configure appropriate software and functions according to specifications
  • Provide technical assistance and desk side support for issues related to computer systems, software, and hardware

Qualifications

  • 1 – 3 years office IT support and/or networking experience
  • Experience with tradeshow networking strongly preferred
  • Experience troubleshooting Office Suite, Zoom, and Active Directory strongly preferred
  • Experience with live and/or virtual event industry a plus
  • Experience with computer building and repairs a plus
  • Experience with both MAC and PC

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to frequently lift up to 30 lbs, unassisted
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs, unassisted
  • Ability to frequently bend and kneel

 Work Environment

  • Full time schedule during standard business hours
  • Occasional early morning, late evening, and weekend availability is required
  • 50% warehouse environment with seasonal temperature fluctuations
  • 50% indoor, office environment
